My interest in Pinterst

First off I would very much like to apologize for the title of this post but I thought it was funny so leave me alone.
Recently on of the sites I have been spending and increasing large amount of my internet time on it Pinterest!
Many people will already be familiar with this site and understand what I mean. But for those of you who don't, Pinterest is somewhere where you can "pin" pictures to certain boards.
For example this is my account.

I have boards that range from things things such as hair and beauty to things for waaaaaaaay into the future like the wedding pin board. (It's sad, I know, don't judge me). It means that unless I decide to terminate my account or something happens to the website it will always be there, so in 10, 15 years I can return and I won't have lost all my ideas and likes.
It helps me to sort my ideas and it allows me to organise all the pictures I see into specific categories for later use and so that I can find them quickly and easily instead of searching through my files on my computer. Another quick example. This is my board for everything hair related.

I can upload pictures (and recently Gifs) with text underneath and links to a website with possible extra information in regards to the pictures, a tutorial maybe?
Because this is online it also means that I no longer need to save the files to my computer, thus freeing up space for more important things such as work. I found it especial useful as I have several devices which I like to save pictures to, I can put them all on here so I don't have some on one computer, some on my phone, some on the desktop, no, everything is now in one place.
It's helped my clear up the clutter on my desktop and is effectively an online scrapbook, or a pin board!
Scrolling though tumblr I no longer need to like things because I can put them here, it also means i can still keep the things I like but that don't fit my blog type.

Tutorial: Memory Boxes

Today I'll show you how to make these great little boxes to house your memories for the year. Don't worry, it's pretty easy and requires no real skill. I know this because they took me about 10 minuets to make!

For this tutorial you will need:

• An empty VHS case
• Scissors
• Glue (A pritt stick)
• Something to write with (Fine liners work well)
• Memoeries such as photographs, cinema tickets, train tickets and anything you like.
• This for decoration. (Stickers, foil, anything pretty)

So get your empty VHS case.

Start to stick things on the box, make sure you cover the whole of the outside.

Hopefully when you've done the whole box it'll look something like this.

And the back.  (Don't worry about the inside).

Write the numbers for the year your box will be for down. Make sure they are small enough to fit on the side of the VHS case.

Cut the numbers out.

Stick the year on the side of the box.

Decorate the side of the box some more. Stickers work well. (How adorable are those cupcakes tho).

Get a lined piece of paper and open the case. Measure the inside dimensions of the inside of the case, apply it to the piece of paper. You want to cut out a piece that will fit.

Make sure the piece of paper fits on the inside of the box and stick it in.

On that page write your new years resolution at the top so you don't forget it and below make a list of some of the things you wish to accomplish in that year.

I ended up making two. One for the year we've just had and one for the year that will come. I think they look pretty neat! You now have a place in which you can keep anything from photos too train tickets to just random memories from the year.

Tutorial: Fashion Planner

For a fashionable start to the new academic year.

For this tutorial you will need to steal/borrow/buy:

•  A mid-year academic planner.
• Scissors
• Glue (Like a pritt stick or something)
• Sellotape
• Two or three magazines you can cut up. (Don't you dare use Vogue or Elle!)
• Patience
• A steady hand
• Some creativity (Not much don't worry)

When scarp-booking in any way, shape or form it's good to begin by leafing though the magazines you will be using and then start to mental pick out what will go on your planner. This means that you can also decide on a colour theme if you wish. I didn't because I'm lazy but you defiantly can!

Now you can start to roughly cut out what you want on the cover of your planner.

Once you've cut it out it should look like this. I usually now look though what ever I'm cutting out of and find everything I want and cut it out like this. This way later on it's less hassle and time consuming to find what I want.

Now you can cut it out prettily if you wish and hopefully it should look like this. Also mind out when cutting around corners because if you're not you could tear the paper because it isn't exactly strong.

It would probably be wise to leave about a millimeter between the edge of the paper and the item you're cutting out. It just looks better this way if you ask me!

Okay next up you need to grab that bland, boring planner of yours. It's time for a make over!
(Please don't judge me for writing that...)

First off it would be a good idea if you had somewhere to write your details on for when you lose it. So get a piece of paper (a piece of card would be ideal) and cut it into a square/ rectangle however big you need to fit your name.

Because everyone always want to be neat draw on a small border, this way when you stick things over you'll not stick them on your details. Also draw an many lines as you will have lines of text, this way it wont be at an angle and be tidier.

Now just go ahead and scribble on somethings such as your year, name, form or what ever you need on there to get it returned to you when you lose it.

Now start to build up your design.

Getting there...

I took the paper with my name, year and form on and stuck somethings I cut out around it so that it became one piece and became easier to move around.

You may need to mess around with the arrangement a few times to make it fit but eventually it will. Once it does stick it all down with glue.

If you want to add a sort of background you can use sweet wrapper because they are usually bright and colourful. I put some on the spine to make it more interesting. Just glue them on the same as everything else.

You should now have a new cool new planner to start the year with and also have an item which you can use to make all your friends jealous for your own amusement. Be the envy of everyone and try not to get it confiscated.

As a finishing touch you could laminate it or just stick a load of clear sellotape over the cover to protect the design and prevent any of your hard work from ripping off.
